Members of the IMA pooled resources to commission a promotional video and conference opener.
After working with the clients to produce initial scripting and storyboarding, I went on to direct a shoot with the Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson, and created a series of different edits to fit the IMA’s wide ranging needs, weaving together my footage of Nile with a variety of industrial footage supplied by the clients.
I used the central image of the gymnast using magnesium chalk in parallel with industrial processes. Through symbolism and match cuts I meshed wide-ranging content and brought to life the strength, accuracy and flexibility of magnesium.
Highlighting the elemental virtues of magnesium, the videos combine the footage we shot with a pool of footage supplied by the IMA’s members. As well as the main video produced with a fully voiced script, I created various edits which were at the initial conference opener, and several cuts for trade shows and general promotion.
